Shopping in Amsterdam?? You can keep shopping for days, without getting bored. There are several shoppingareas all with their own character.From flea-market to haute couture. Amsterdam has it all. I'll show you.

P.C. Hooftstraat Shopping in Amsterdam: P.C. Hooftstraat

The P.C Hooftstraat is the street to be when you're interested in shops with expensive clothes and shoes. Too expensive for you?? Windowshopping is fun too. Your husband or boyfriend doesn't like shopping. He sure will like all the expensive cars that are parked in this street.

If your not that rich. The rest of Amsterdam is not that expensive. Most common shops are situated in the Kalverstraat. It's a walkingarea with all thinkable shops. It's not far from Central station.

The nine streets (negen straatjes) are nine little streets between the Singel and the Prinsengracht. It is in the heart of Amsterdam's canal district and is one of the city's most delightful shopping areas. Here you'll find designer boutiques, art galleries, jewellers, gift shops, fashion shops and specialist businesses. And when you get a little tired? No problem! There are enough great bars, cafes and restaurants to refresh you along the way...Don't skip this district if you go shopping in Amsterdam.




Magna Plaza


Magna plaza is a big shopping- and lifestylecentre on the Nieuwezijdsvoorburgwal.It's a stunning neogothic building that used to be the main postoffice in Amsterdam. You'll find shops with all the hot brands of this moment.


The Jordaan Shopping in Amsterdam: The Jordaan

The Jordaan is a very old part of Amsterdam. It used to be the district of the workingclass. Nowadays it is very trendy and popular. It has a unique charm with shops, bars and "eetcafees"(dinnercafes). And if you're looking for a genuine Amsterdam art gallery, this is the area where you should look. Every saturday you can go to the biological farmersmarket called "the Noordermarkt".

Waterlooplein

Like Flea-markets?? Located in the old jewish quarter of Amsterdam, the Waterlooplein is a must see for people who like collectibles, second hand clothing, curiosa etc.... It has over 300 stalls. I don't think you'll manage to come away empty-handed.










The Albert Cuyp market Shopping in Amsterdam: The Albert cuyp market

The Albert Cuyp market is situated in the Pijpdistrict. It's an outdoor market, open six days a week (closed on sundays). The stall are a mixture of vegetables, fruit, clothes, spices, flowers, fish, cheese, textile and householdware. While strolling around, you could try a Dutch raw herring with onions. It's a real tradional Dutch delicacy.
