Amsterdam airport: The largest Dutch airport is Schiphol near Amsterdam. It is the most likely place to arrive when you travel to Amsterdam. Amsterdam airport is already an attraction on its own. two hours prior to departure if you are flying to a European destination
three hours prior to departure if you are flying to a destination outside Europe

-Departure Hall 1: desk rows 1 up to and including 8

If the wait gets too long, your children will be able to get rid of some of their energy by playing on the slides and carts.

Of course you can rent a car at Amsterdam airport, but in Amsterdam a car is quite useless. The centre of Amsterdam is not so big . On foot you can go almost everywhere. If you want to do something outside the centre you can easily travel by tram or hire a bike. Renting a car is an option if you want to see things in the rest of Holland.
If you want to travel by train, Schiphol station is situated directly below the airport. You can pick up a free baggage trolley from the platform. Via Schiphol Plaza, you can walk straight to the departure or arrival hall.
The Connexxion Schiphol Hotel Shuttle is your direct connection between the airport and over 100 hotels in the city of Amsterdam. If you already booked a hotel, this is an easy way to get there. Every ten minutes between 06:00 hrs and 21:00 hrs an air-conditioned eight-seater bus leaves from platform A7, situated immediately outside Arrivals hall 2. You will not have to wait longer than 30 minutes before your bus leaves. A seat for your return trip to the airport is guaranteed if booked at least two hours before departure from the hotel. Tickets are available at the Connexxion desk on Schiphol Plaza and the Tourist Information Office. Children receive a special discount.
